SuCo Spotlight November ’24 – Buffy Cherry

This month SuCo wants to Spotlight our extraordinary leader of the home services account management team, Buffy Cherry. Buffy joined the team over four years ago, eager and optimistic about the potential in the home services vertical. She hit the ground running and was not wrong. She has been instrumental in the success of the home services vertical, from business development and account management to establishing procedures and processes required for growth. She put her strategic and efficient practices to work in building a best-in-class account management team that is highly engaged and focused on effective lead campaigns that support the growth of SuCo and our valued partners. Buffy’s leadership and growth ability are well respected within our business and throughout the industry. Take a minute to learn a little more about Buffy…

What initially attracted you to account management, and how did you make your way to a Director role?

My passion is people! I truly enjoy engaging with people and getting to know them personally, as well as professionally. I’ve learned so much about different industries’ needs from meeting with clients regularly and having open conversations. Earning and maintaining their trust has allowed us to partner with them on growth strategies that benefit both parties. How you treat clients can be the difference between a long-lasting partnership and a failed one.

There are multiple factors that afforded me the opportunity to be promoted to Director of Account Management for Home Services, but to call out a few, I would say it’s been the growth of our home services business, having a leadership team that recognized the results of my hard work and commitment as well as my desire the help others achieve their growth goals.

What’s your philosophy on supporting your team?

Treat them with respect and trust them to do their jobs. No one wants to be micromanaged. I try to empower them as much as possible and lean into their strengths. I look for opportunities to celebrate their wins, while also investing in their growth through training and mentoring.

What’s one piece of professional advice you’ve received that has stayed with you?

Just one? There’s many, but a few that have been pivotal to my personal and professional growth…

Go for it! Don’t wait, the right time is now! Aim high and take risks!

What’s one experience you think everyone should try at least once?

Travel to another country. You will come back with a new perspective and an attitude of gratitude!
