What’s one common myth about HR that you’d love to debunk?

That HR is all about enforcing rules and managing compliance (red tape) instead of supporting employees. But actually, a great HR team balances the needs of the company with the employee well-being at the forefront. Here at SuCo, our HR Team works to create a positive work environment, develop team members’ potential, and ensure fair treatment for all. Our HR team also fosters a culture of trust and open communication, so we can cut through the “red tape” more, giving team members the time, space, and opportunity to do what they do best and drive organizational success. I am incredibly grateful to have found a role at a company where the executive team shares and supports that sentiment, alongside team members who contribute to a supportive and collaborative environment for the HR team…I’m not crying you’re crying 😭

Where do you find inspiration for new and innovative HR strategies?

Often through a mix of sources; Gathering feedback from team members through surveys, focus groups, and one-on-one meetings can highlight areas for improvement and spark creative solutions tailored to the company’s needs. As well as engaging with HR professionals, HR journals, and blogs to find innovative approaches and successful case studies in a variety of different industries to find new insights and new ideas. On top of these sources I am fortunate to work with two exceptional HR professionals who collaborate, generate and refine ideas together, ensuring that any implementation is a practical solution benefiting both the company and team members.

What’s your go-to song or artist to get you pumped up for a busy day?

Ohhh this is a hard one, this definitely changes on a daily basis for me. Right now it’s pretty consistent mix between these 3 bands: Sevendust, Nothing But Thieves, or Coheed and Cambria. All three bands are high-energy music, powerful vocals, and intense guitar riffs, making them the ideal music for me to listen to in the morning for a good energizing atmosphere and some terrible singing on my part.

If you could have any celebrity join our HR team, who would it be and why?

Keanu Reeves, 1,000%, he is known for his humility, kindness, and down-to-earth personality. His approachability and genuine concern for others would be a tremendous asset in an HR role, where building trust and fostering positive relationships are key. His calm demeanor and problem-solving skills he is known to have on set are great qualities to possess when navigating the complexities of HR. Lastly, his philanthropic efforts and commitment to social causes align well with SuCo’s values of inclusivity and community support. We will reach out and see if he is available for a new role 😊
