Take a minute to learn a little more about Rebecca…
What’s something small that makes a big difference in your work?
The amazing support and availability of my managers and coworkers. I did not come from a tech background, so any time I have a question, no matter how dumb, I know I can ask one of my great leaders and someone is always there to help.
What’s the best feedback you’ve ever received from a developer?
That I have great attention to detail, and I am good at catching the small things. My job as a QA specialist is to test and find any problems with the technology before we release it. I have always had a knack for seeing patterns and finding small things that most overlook. When I was on the Ops Team, I would randomly find small errors or missing information that can be easily overlooked and that’s really how the door opened for me to join the Tech team.
What’s your favorite “win” moment on the job so far?
Being asked to join the Tech team has been my biggest win here at SuCo. I come from 20 years of Real Estate operations and Title experience, so my background was mostly in real estate marketing and Microsoft tools, and very little tech experience. Since I did have the ability to spot details that may get overlooked, the Operations Team was a natural fit and the perfect place to apply my strengths right away. But overtime, I started working with the Tech team on the issues I was finding, and I started to get interested in what they were doing and how. It was really an honor to get to know that team and then be welcomed on as a member.
If you could be embedded with any team for a week, which would it be and why?
The Core Team. They are the ones who take a screen full of words and numbers and turn it into real life data and working programs. They connect all the pieces of the puzzle into a working machine. The work they do is extremely hard and confusing, and I would love to understand more of how they make our world go round.
What’s your favorite way to relax after a detail-heavy day?
Either driving up Mountains or sand dune or working on one of my classic trucks and hanging out with my Pug. Aside from owning a couple of new Broncos, I also have a 1967 Bronco and a 1978 F250. The 67 Bronco is my pride and joy, and something I spent multiple years begging the prior owner to sell. I love turning on some Yacht Rock Radio and spending time replacing the old parts and adding a few modern features to improve the safety and drivability in today’s world. It gives me a sense of peace, accomplishment and pride that I am restoring rare and old things – breathing new life into something that others find junky. I am also definitely known for my love of Pugs, so you’ll often see me riding around with my little pug, Lola.
